Safety In The Heat

hot temps

With the high temperatures we have been experiencing, the Town of North Beach would like for its residents and guests to use extreme caution while taking part in outdoor activities. Take breaks during your walks, drink plenty of fluids and try to avoid the sun as much as possible. This message is also for pet owners. As temperatures rise, so do the temperatures of the boardwalk and asphalt. To help keep dogs free from harm, check how hot the surface is before you and your pup walk on it. If it’s too hot for your hand or bare feet then it’s too hot for theirs! If you can’t keep the back of your hand on the pavement or boardwalk for longer than 7 seconds it’s too hot for your pets. Lastly, check on your neighbors and stay cool!
