Updates Regarding the Coronavirus

The Town of North Beach is sharing the following information to keep residents informed of recent updates regarding the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Be Proactive

The experts at the CDC, Maryland Department of Health and Calvert County Health Department continue to stress that all citizens wash their hands frequently, cover coughs and sneezes, and separate people who have respiratory symptoms. It is also recommended to disinfect high-touch surfaces and avoid shaking hands. If you or your children are not feeling well, stay home and avoid the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. State of Maryland

Governor Larry Hogan announced at a press conference yesterday evening (March 5, 2020) that three Montgomery County residents tested positive for coronavirus. The three individuals recently returned from foreign travel and are in isolation until they are no longer infectious. Governor Hogan said, “While today’s news may seem overwhelming, this is not a reason to panic. Marylanders should go to work or go to school tomorrow just as they normally would. At the same time, I want to continue to remind everyone to prepare themselves and continue to stay informed. I am confident in our state’s ability to respond effectively to these three cases of coronavirus as well as to any future cases, and to be a national leader in responding to this situation and in developing treatments and perhaps even a vaccine.” To read the full press release from Governor Hogan, click here.
