Can I put a shed in my yard? What do I do?

It depends on the size of the shed.

A. If the shed is 150 sq. ft. or less:

1. Fill out a Miscellaneous Zoning Permit Application.
2. Include a drawing of the project and its location on the property.
3. Accessory structures must be kept 5’ from rear and side property lines.
4. Include a product list describing the types of materials to be used and colors, if applicable.
5. Submit the application to North Beach Town Hall or email to the Zoning Administrator.

B. If the shed is over 150 sq. ft.:

1. Fill out a Zoning Permit Application.
2. Fill out a Calvert County Building Permit Application.
3. Following the guidelines for submitting a Category 1 site plan (6-200 in the Zoning Ordinance which is found on the Town Website) and submit to the Zoning Administrator.
4. Submit the application to North Beach Town Hall or email to the Zoning Administrator.
5. Once submitted, the project will be reviewed by the Zoning Administrator for presentation to the North Beach Planning Commission for approval.
