Excessive Heat Watch
Please read the following news release from the Division of Emergency Management, Calvert County Government.
The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch for Calvert County from Friday morning through Friday evening. Heat index values for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are expected to exceed 105 degrees with sustained nighttime temperatures above 75 degrees.
Cooling centers have not been activated at this time; however, Emergency Management is working with Parks & Recreation and Community Resources to pre-deploy water to approved locations in anticipation of an Excessive Heat Warning.
Additionally, attached is guidance on Heat Stress Work/Rest Schedules from NIOSH and the 3 Forms of Heat Stress from the Chesapeake Employers Insurance. Emergency Management will continue to monitor and provide updates, as needed.
