Flood Awareness Month

April is Flood Awareness Month in Maryland and it’s worth spending a few moments to learn how we can all improve our flood resiliency. Here is some useful info:
- CDC Natural Disasters and Severe Weather
- Maryland Resiliency Partnership
- Maryland Flood Awareness Month
- MyCoast Maryland (Documenting Flooding and Storm Damage to Inspire Action). MyCoast is an app and web platform that provides a space to capture and analyze photos and data of flooding. The platform can capture nuisance tidal flooding, precipitation-caused flooding and coastal storm damage. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources needs your help to make this tool become useful and impactful! Take photos of flooding and upload at www.MyCoast.org/MD or by using the mobile app.
North Beach is on track to significantly improve its flood resiliency. This month marks the completion of an upgraded pump system at 5th Street to manage the persistent flooding in that area. Additionally, a public meeting is set for this Thursday, April 20, 2023 to present and discuss the results of a year-long study on developing a Compound Flood Action Plan for the entire community.
