Reporters from WUSA9 News were in North Beach twice over the weekend reporting on the potential effects the Town of North Beach may encounter from remnants of Hurricane Ian. On Friday, Mayor Benton talked to Reporter John Henry at the Department of Public Works yard where he had been helping to distribute sandbags to town residents. At the boardwalk, Mayor Benton explained that there are vulnerable sections of the town that encounter coastal flooding, in addition to flooding due to storm water runoff. Yesterday, he spoke with WUSA9’s Megan Rivers about the continued concern with tidal flooding even though the rains had calmed.

As the Town of North Beach continues to explore ways to combat flooding in town, residents are encouraged to get involved by attending a public meeting on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 6 pm at Town Hall. Input from town residents is needed to pinpoint specific areas that are experiencing coastal flooding or drainage issues associated with stormwater runoff.
