Mayor Mike Benton, Town Council members, and the staff of the Town of North Beach wish to extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of George William Owings, III. As a native of North Beach, George’s roots run deep in our town. Raised by his parents on Bay Avenue, George was a self-proclaimed “beach kid” and through the years, he remained a steadfast advocate for his hometown. From the carefree days of his youth to the years of dedicated service, George was a constant presence—a familiar face at many gatherings and a voice for the people.

George's political career spanned an impressive five decades, a testament to his unwavering commitment to public service. Whether representing the Town of North Beach in the Maryland House of Delegates or advocating for veterans, George’s impact was immeasurable.

George served as the Master of Ceremonies for the Pat Carpenter Holiday Parade in North Beach for many years. Although he took his speaking role seriously, George knew how to break the ice and ensure a good time was had by all during this annual holiday event. The town staff fondly recalls numerous instances when George's speeches brought smiles to everyone's faces! George had the ability to connect with people and bring joy to many occasions.
