What is Relay For Life?

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a noncompetitive walking event for people of all ages and physical abilities. Church groups, organizations, cancer survivors, families, friends, neighbors and co-workers form teams to raise funds and awareness by conducting a variety of fundraising activities throughout the year, and at the event. You can also sign up as an individual.

Our new ‘Relay by the Bay’ event is a celebration of all of the team fundraising activities throughout the year. The event gives us a chance to come together as a community to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to save lives from cancer.

Admission is free and is open to the public. Event will include casual walking around our ‘track’, live music, beach volleyball, fun competitions, a car and motorcycle show, a children’s treasure hunt, family activities and more. Food trucks, beer and wine vendors, crafts, and Relay Teams will have items for sale. You can also take a chance to win great items for $1 per chance in our Treasure Trove Tent!

As an added bonus, every registered participant who has raised a minimum of $5 will receive FREE beach access for the entire day of our event! Registration is FREE online at, or by calling 1-800-227-2345.

Celebrating our Survivors and Caregivers

Area cancer survivors and caregivers are invited to attend a complimentary meal beginning at 2 pm. Reservations are required. Please RSVP to or via phone at 512-490-8764. Survivors and caregivers are encouraged to participate in a Victory Lap during our Opening Ceremony, where they will be cheered on by all as they make their way around the track.

Luminaria Ceremony

Once the sun sets, candlelight will illuminate the pier during this moving ceremony of remembrance. Each luminaria bag is in memory or honor of the life of a loved one who has battled or continues to battle cancer. Luminaria can be dedicated on our website or at the event for a suggested donation of $10.

Dollars Raised are Making an Impact

The Relay For Life movement fuels the mission of the American Cancer Society, an organization that touches the lives of so many. In our community funds raise enable the Society to:

  • educate people about how to reduce their risk for cancer or detect it early, when it’s easiest to treat
  • fund cancer research that will help protect future generations
  • fight back through public policy in partnership with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, the Society’s nonpartisan advocacy affiliate
