I have spent most of my life living in small Maryland towns on the Chesapeake Bay, from Claiborne on the Eastern Shore to Annapolis and Cove Point Beach on the Western Shore. So, when I moved here with my family in 2017 after fourteen long years in Washington, DC it was as if I was coming home. I fell for North Beach immediately.

I am an active member of the community currently serving on Town Council and as Town Council liaison to the Flood Committee. As liaison to the Flood Committee, I work hard to ensure that the Committee is addressing short- and long-term hazards and impacts related to coastal and stormwater flooding throughout the entire Town and that the concerns and experiences of all residents are shared and understood. I also worked closely with the Committee to secure a sizable grant for the development of a compound flood action plan that will chart our course on the big infrastructure fixes needed in the future to mitigate flooding —as well as leverage our competitiveness for grants and other funds needed to employ necessary flood mitigation measures.

I believe that the sustained viability of North Beach depends in part on how it manages its environmental challenges. As a member of the Town Council, I rely on my considerable expertise and experience in directing various environmental issues at the federal, state, and non-profit level to help the Town best position itself to address these challenges to include playing an active role in tackling the issue of flooding and sea level rise. While my primary focus is on addressing our flood problems and building resiliency to climate change, I am also deeply engaged in working with the Mayor, Town Staff and Town Council to make sure we are always responsive to residents and doing our best to balance life here as a popular waterfront community that’s also a great place to live, to include improving infrastructure, creating more recreational opportunities, and bolstering community engagement.
